2021 04/25 - WHISPERIN' and HOLLERIN' (Camden, London UK)8 out of 10 Stars "We Are The Normal is an anthem for our times as we all re-claim what it is to be considered normal... insistent catchy power pop rock... sounding a bit like the Psychedelic Furs... let Joe Normal rock your world and be your savior as we get to a new world that isn't run by hatred and fear."

2021 4/22 - DAGGER (Denver, CO USA) - "Is this guy secretly part of a new Brill Building that I don’t know about? Why the heck wasn’t I told about this?! They’d be playing this at Devils hockey games if someone at the top had any sense... Reminded me slightly of the more melodic Gaslight Anthem stuff. In between his Brill Building gig (and no-show construction jobs) Joe Normal is here for you, and you, and most importantly YOU." Give this guy your time (and money).

2021 03/26 - I-94 Bar (Sydney, AUSTRALIA) - " 5 out of 5 Stars,  Joe Normal is my fave... USA! USA! power pop contemporary - he writes emboldened singalong anthems for guttersnipes and barflies and aging dishwashers like you and me. He's got a kickass band and always delivers this beautiful pop ‘n’ roll that'll remind you of the freer, cooler, long gone glory days.

'We Are The Normal' is gonna stay lodged in your head, It's really catchy... wide awake and energizing - Both songs bristle with alive and kicking, snarling, working class rebellious spirit. Kinda like a Yankee version of The Godfathers. Like champagne and birthday cake, and it would make Mick Jones and Joe Strummer proud. Perfect like always"

2021 04/06 - POP GEEK HEAVEN (Seattle, WA USA)  - "Two songs mainlining blue collar roots rock. “Stuck In A Job” is roadhouse rock, the kind of band you dream of stumbling on. Joe works that Strat, flinging sweat off his forehead as he half sings, half talks his way through “Stuck In A Job,” which should be the national anthem...Can't wait to hear this guy's album!"

2021 04/01 - SAN DIEGO TROUBADOR (California, USA) - “Stuck in a Job,” is a classic rock party anthem in the making, a full-band stadium rocker a la Mellencamp. A fun tune, the sentiment and energy should make this a morning drive radio favorite. "The A side is the hit, but the B side is also striking listen. Recommended."

2021 01/15 - TESTIMONIAL (Alabama, USA) - "I may live in Birmingham, Alabama, but I have long known that the Northeast USA is the last bastion for real Rock and Roll!  I can now add Joe Normal to this distinguished list: Bruce Springsteen, Jesse Malin, Willie Nile, Little Steven, Southside Johnny, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith..." - Steven Hassenplug

.

2021 04/13 - PAPERBLOG / Here Comes The Flood ( The Netherlands )  - Joe Normal goes solo on his new single We Are The Normal, playing all the instruments on a pleading blue-collar rocker with slowed down middle-eight. B-side U Say is a lot faster, a showcase for the various guitars he owns. Both songs question the new normal... his advice to consider the consequences for the less fortunate is heartfelt. Also: using rock as a bullhorn is a lot nicer and far more enjoyable as such than an actual call to arms.

2021 03/04 - DAGGER (Denver, CO USA) - "Armed with a guitar and a booming voice (and a terrific backing band) Joe and the band plow through this cool nugget ('Stuck In A Job') and sound like a hepped-up Nick Lowe or perhaps a fully-energized Willie Nile... a terrific song that’s hard not to tap your foot to... I think I like the flipside ('Living In The Borough') more than the a-side (saying a lot ‘cos that A-side kicks). Give this guy a soapbox or a stage and be fully entertained for a good hour or 10."

2021 02/03 - HERE COMES THE FLOOD (The Netherlands) - "Playing no-frills pub-rock is a lot harder than it seems. It is all about the groove, the rhythm, and blue-collar lyrics. As a musician you have to live it to make it real. Enter Joe Normal & The Anytown'rs... homespun working class garage rock mixed with the melodic pop sensibilities of the British invasion they are just what the doctor ordered after putting in long hours for a job that is not exciting or fulfilling in any sense. (They) provide a good night of rock 'n' roll entertainment, sticking it to the man while they are at it."

2020 12/17 - I-94 BAR (Sydney, AUSTRALIA) - 5 out of 5 Stars "Ridiculously talented... charismatic... solid platinum would-be pop hits... This single is at Joe Normal's usual standard of super-pop excellence, and I like how it has inter-generational appeal... the B-Side is the one I'd play first, "Living In The Borough" reminded me of that first solo Paul Westerberg album with its picturesque storyteller lyrics. It really pulls my heartstrings. Nothing 'bout Joe is Normal - bring on the revolution!"

2020 12/11 - WHIPSERIN' & HOLLERIN' - (Camden, London UK) - 9 out of 10 Stars "('Stuck In A Job') is a prime slice of Blue-collar rock... in the mold of early Springsteen or Johnny Cougar.... Real easy to stick on repeat and hear over and over again... the sort of song you can punch the air to."

2019 11/29 - POP ROCK RECORD (Toronto, CANADA) - "New Jersey’s Joe Normal & The Anytown’rs are slick, but in a different way. Their killer single “Don’t Hurt Me” exudes classic rock and roll radio, with a nice melodic undercurrent.

2019 01/19 - I-94 Bar (Sydney, AUSTRALIA) - "an outpost of genuine rock and roll, stripped back to its roots rather than wrapped up in ideas of blandness and mainstream acceptance. Joe Normal’s music wears blue collar shirts and resides in a mythical and shrinking town called Garage Pop... Mr. Normal can sing. “Nuthin’ (I Got Nothing)” is the best Broooce song that Springsprung (Springsteen) never wrote."

2019 01 - WHISPERIN' & HOLLERIN' (Camden, London UK) - Review "Entering Anytown USA" - "I met (Joe Normal) at the Black Heart at The Dramarama gig...He is their current Guitarist, who is also a New Jersey gunslinger gone west to Los Angeles.  'Anytown' has some very um Dramarama like backing vocals but with more of a Willie Nile or even early Johnny Cougar feel to it. Great to sing along to in a packed bar... Nuthin' (I Got Nothing) is a bar room bruiser of a song with some great guitar work to shake along to, this is a really great upbeat bar room blues... This is just a great balls out glammy rocker about being down on your luck. Yeah go on get out and see this lot playing live."
