BLUE-COLLAR POWER POP • FACTORY-FLOOR ROCK ’N’ ROLL
Joe Normal writes melodic, guitar-driven songs that are part power pop and roots rock, part British Invasion, and working-class American rock ’n’ roll.
His lyrical themes are often about ordinary people, complicated lives, bad jobs, love, loss, family and financial struggles and the strange business of simply trying to get through the day... prefering to urge listeners on with a sense of hope as they go for their dreams.
Joe Normal isn't a nostalgia act. He's an independent rock songwriter making new records, releasing new music, a DIY rock artist who's been making records and playing rock ’n’ roll for decades — from the Sunset Strip and the glam-rock world of The Zeros to his current work as Joe Normal (both as a solo artist and with The Anytown'rs.)
Today, Joe Normal works independently from his home base in Southern California, writing, recording, releasing videos, making records, and putting together live bands whenever the right people come along.
The sound is melodic, jangly, oftentimes crunchy and loud. Scrappy but intentional. A little British, a little American, and completely Joe Normal.
Think The Kinks, The Replacements, Raspberries, Big Star, The Rolling Stones, and Urge Overkill — but filtered through one songwriter's very particular view of the world.
Welcome to Normaltown.
