Joe Normal & The Anytown'rs gave a stellar performance to a capacity crowd this weekend along with brit-rockers The Brutalists and Ballrooms of Mars at the legendary Buccaneer Lounge in Sierra Madre, CA.....  The three bands continue their assault on Southern California with these two upcoming dates: 2/16 @ Maui Sugarmill Saloon (Tarzana, CA), and 3/17 St. Patty's @ Redwood (Downtown Los Angeles).

Joe Normal joined fellow New Jersey rockers DRAMARAMA ("Anything, Anything" hit makers) on lead guitar duties for two full benefit shows for The Light Of Day Foundation on January 10th at The Cutting Room (NYC) and January 11th at House Of Independents (Asbury Park, NJ).

"I Wish U Heaven" is the title of a new Prince tribute album featuring Joe Normal & The Anytown'rs rockin' cover of "Take Me With U". The album is currently available as a Free Streaming Playlist HERE:   PRINCE TRIBUTE ALBUM

The Anytown'rs version of "Take Me With U" stands out as a stellar rock tribute amidst the softer and funkier versions that dominate this moving and heartfelt compilation. Other notable contributing artists include members of Prince's New Power Generation (NPG) band, and pop hit makers Savage Garden's lead vocalist Darren Hayes. A fine listen and memorial to Prince and his music.

JOE NORMAL & THE ANYTOWN'rs have begun work on their debut album this week! The band is armed with a catalog of songs that cover themes of working class life, concerns, and struggles, personal stories and relationship matters, plus songs that will inspire hope and  restore faith in oneself to 'never give up,' in spite of adversity. Joe says this is his most meaningful work yet.

"I believe this album will clearly define who I am as an artist and a real person to the Music Industry and listeners as well. I've got my own story to tell and believe it or not, it's probably got some of your story in there, too. Alot of you are going to relate. After all we're all just a bunch of Joe Normals, aren't we!

"With his band THE ANYTOWN'RS (feat. Tony Babylon- Bass, Tony Snow-Drums), Joe delivers guitar driven Rock and Roll backed with an unbeatable rhythm section that stands tall next to bands like The Who, Oasis, and The Replacements. He also possesses the heart and soul of a singer-songwriter, which often leads to comparisons to Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, and Tom Petty (RIP). And like his predecessors, it'll be Joe's prolific writing talent that will ensure him a place in rock history.

We're excited to announce that Joe Normal & The Anytown'rs are recording a rockin' cover of "Take Me With U" for the upcoming PRINCE tribute, "I WISH U HEAVEN."

The band's tribute track will be included alongside others by some of Prince's friends and former backing band members.

Joe says his connection to Prince is not only a musical one, but additionally meaningful because of their mutual association with the "color purple," (for those who remember Joe from his days in the purple-haired glam-punk-pop band, The Zeros.)

He adds, "When I got my first Walkman in '84, Purple Rain was the first cassette I played on it, and that song "Take Me With U" just transported me right outta my shoes and small town blues up into the skies above my New Jersey hometown. I never wanted to come back down... and I probably never did!"

Featuring the thunderous drumming of Tony Snow and the pumping bass of Tony Babylon, the track is supported by a swirling electric 12 string guitar attack.

Previews will be available soon... Stay Tuned!

Rankoutsider Records just announced the official release of Joe Normal's single "AS THE RAIN BEAT DOWN ON OUR TOWN" from his forthcoming sixth album to be titled, "LIVING IN THE BOROUGH."

Joe has decided to listen to everyone's suggestion that he audition for "America's Got Talent" 11th season this weekend in Los Angeles!

WATCH below, and READ the liner notes about his decision to do it, on his YouTube Channel!

The acclaimed SUGARBUZZ MAGAZINE  and respected rock columnist, critic and writer Geordie Pleathur  show their support for JOE NORMAL and his "stand out new solo CD" 'Crude Folk' in this Front Page feature... "

"Joe is McCartneyesque in the best ways possible, but where Paul might feel obliged to add some cheap and patronizing studio gimmickry to feel edgy and current, like Moby or Kanye or some sh*t, Joe strips it all down to the bare naked essentials- a quietly tapping foot, excellent Jimmy Page quality guitar playing, a beautifully hummable melody, great singing. If Elvis Costello or Andy Partridge wrote this song, (Mockingbirds), all those expensive imported coffee table $13 English magazines would be all over it."

"Brilliantly executed acoustic pop... effortlessly soaring vocals... he’s easily in league with say, John Waite from the Babys. He smokes guys like Ryan Adams and Rob Thomas, probably even Jacob Dylan, this reminds you of when bands had to be talented, or at least original, or saying something meaningful."

"Joe Normal’s been through hell and back more than a few times... a blinding star in my tired eyes, and way, way, way more talented than all those rich, mediocre capitalist rappers and corporate whores on major labels."

"If you like artists who are unusually talented, Joe Normal is one of underground rock and pop’s authentic greats."

-Geordie Pleathur

Kudos to ARTisticrats CONglomerate for producing the latest Joe Normal video, "ONE OF THESE DAYS," which was filmed at the treasured Musee Mecanique in San Francisco. Joe says he first visited the museum when it was located below Cliff House near the Sutro Baths ruins back in The Zeros / The Hutchinsons days... "A mental note was made to return there one day to shoot a music video... Voila!"

JULY 25, 2015
Outside of recording his next album, Joe continues his work as a writer.
He is simultaneously working on several children's picture books and an autobiographical graphic novel. A musical adaptation for stage is also in the works.

Reviews are in for "CRUDE FOLK"...

Thanks to Sean Kayden at Mountain Views News for offering up the very first:

 May 22, 2015

"When Joe talks about his new CD, 'CRUDE FOLK', he cracks a noticeably devious half-smile and says, 'these songs were hastily slapped together with tape, glue, and house paint... the way it oughta be', deliberately shunning the gloss of production in favor of a lo-fi, honest vulnerable sound that is true to its title." - RankOutsider Records

JOE NORMAL entered a deal with Rankoutsider Records to release his forthcoming CD, "CRUDE FOLK." The 14 track disc boasts a minimalist production, focusing rather on edgy subject matter that ranges from parenting a special needs child, deteriorating relationships, humility, alcoholism and self-empowerment to more standard fare such as love and hope.

With a roster of nearly 50 artists, Los Angeles based Rankoutsider Records was  founded in 2006 by respected songwriter Pat Todd of the seminal roots/punk band The Lazy Cowgirls to expose fine Roots music, Americana, and just plain 'ol damn good rock 'n' Roll.
